Late Surge Gives Spurs Game 4 Win

by Angelo on May 30th, 2007

Game 4 was looking like a very close game until Manu Ginobili of the Spurs cranked up his game to lead a fourth quarter surge to win the game 91-79 to lead the Jazz 3-1 in the series. While Deron Williams was fighting a stomach ailment, in no way was it his fault for losing that game as he posted 27 points and 10 assists. You can blame the officiating as there were some questionable calls but I call this as simply the experienced Spurs knowing how to close out games and win on the road.

“I’m very proud of what we did in the fourth quarter because it was looking ugly for us,” Ginobili said. “We stepped up and did a really good job.”

What I want to say is that I’m proud that a young inexperienced team like the Jazz could impact the series the way they are doing now against a seasoned team like the Spurs. But there’s a reason why the Spurs are favored in this series and they showed it in game 4.

While I praise the Jazz for what they’ve done to this point this season, I must say their behavior and most especially the Jazz fans’ behavior in that game was truly disappointing. They just demean themselves by resorting to throwing things at the opponent. Show disgust but do so in a civilized manner. Jerry Sloan himself didn’t have wanted it to come to that.

That being said, I sure want the Jazz to take another win in the next game. The Jazz have no choice anyway but to try for it since they’ll go home if they lose. As much as possible I want the Jazz to force a game 7 so things will really be exciting!
