Portland Trailblazers Reportedly Will Select Oden at #1

by Angelo on June 28th, 2007

The Oden or Durant speculations have been going on for so long it’s good that we finally have some kind of sure answer. Because of a poor workout by Oden for the Blazers and the fact that Kevin Duraant does fit in with the roster quite well there were some signs that they were considering drafting Durant with their first overall pick. With the draft just hours away, the Blazers reportedly will draft Greg Oden at number one leaving Kevin Durant the sure pick for the Sonics who have the second pick. But of course this is what everyone expects the Blazers to do so this isn’t really news. With Oden and Durant locked for the first two picks, the real draft excitement really begins with the third pick of the Atlanta Hawks.

While I’m happy for the young and talented Blazers team for being able to get a guy like Oden to join their team, I’m quite sad that Oden’s best bud Mike Conley Jr. won’t be joining him there. It would have been great to have the two Ohio State products and long time friends to play together again at the pros and Portland did try to make a deal to make just that happen but unfortunately inothing happened. Nevertheless, acquiring Oden is more than enough for the fans of Portland to happy about for a long time.
