Andre Miller On The Move?

In the New York Daily News, there is a report that the Philadelphia 76ers are looking to trade Andre Miller. The reason behind the move would be to create a spot in the starting lineup for Louis Williams. Williams, who is just 21-years-old, is emerging as a force for the Sixers.
On the season, Williams is averaging 11.7 points and 3.3 assists in just 21.9 minutes per game. He’s also shooting great from the field – 52% from the floor and 50% from beyond the three-point arc. It makes sense for the Sixers to find more playing time for Williams. In all likelihood, the Sixers aren’t making the playoffs and Miller doesn’t really fit into the future plans.
Miller, 31-years-old, is having a decent season this year but he’s noticeably slower than in the past. If the Sixers can trade him now, they could get good value for him. That value plus the increased playing time for Williams makes a trade a very sensible option for Philadelphia.
Here are a couple of trades that work under the salary cap and make sense for each team involved:
Andre Miller to the Miami Heat for Jason Williams and Dorell Wright
The Heat need to win now as Shaquille O’Neal ages. By getting Miller, their chances of making noise this season increases. For the Sixers, Jason Williams has an expiring contract and he could provide a steady hand at point guard in case Louis Williams slips up. Wright is a nice prospect who has fallen out of favor with Pat Riley in Miami.
Andre Miller to the Cleveland Cavaliers for Drew Gooden and Ira Newble
For the Cavs to make this trade, they’d have to first sign Anderson Varejao. If they do come to terms with Varejao, that could make Gooden expendable. In that case, the Sixers could be interested in swapping Miller for Gooden. Newble would be added to the mix to match salaries.
