Blockbuster trades built the 2004 championship team: Ben Wallace, Rasheed Wallace, Richard Hamilton, Mike James, Corliss Williamson and Lindsey Hunter were acquired, and Dumars gave up little: Jerome Williams, Grant Hill, Jerry Stackhouse, Michael Curry, Zeljko Rebraca, Bob Sura and Chucky Atkins.
THUMBS UPFINDING THE RIGHT COACH

Dumars has made the right move at every step of his title-building. Rick Carlisle brought a defensive mentality. Larry Brown helped the team win big games, and Flip Saunders was the best candidate available and added an offensive spark.

The Pistons have won 10 division titles — five under Dumars in the front office. Detroit has six straight seasons of 50 or more wins.
