Texas Showdown in the NBA Playoffs for Second Round

The results are out. The second round of the Western Conference playoffs will have another Texas matchup - San Antonio Spurs versus Dallas Mavericks. This matchup became final when San Antonio won game 6 against the Sacramento Kings 105-83. Playoffs matchups are a big thing in the NBA, especially if two strong teams go it. That’s the case with this matchup, but it becomes an even bigger deal when the matchups come from the same state.

This Spurs-Mavs showdown could be considered somewhat like the Conference Finals because of the intensity at which these two teams play. Don’t expect the Mavs to run over the Spurs like they did with the Grizzlies. The Spurs have an edge in this matchup though since they have the momentum coming off the games from Sacramento, whereas the Mavs seem to be having too much rest time. The Spurs also were able to win against the defense of Bonzi Wells and Ron Artest. This is a good sign since the Mavs defense, though improved, is something the Spurs can handle. What they need to worry about is the Mavs offense.

On a side note, if the Lakers win game 7 of their matchup with the Suns then we will have an L.A matchup as they will play against the L.A. Clippers!
