Spurs Take Game 1 From Suns On The Road
“You only see things like that in a boxing match,” the Spurs’ Robert Horry said, “where a guy cuts his nose and it won’t stop bleeding. You feel bad for the guy because you want to have the best team out there at the end of the game, and he wasn’t out there.”
I think Robert Horry said pretty much what I wanted to say about this game 1 where the Suns lost to the Spurs at home. The score was 111-106. The game was very close all throughout but the Suns couldn’t hold on for the victory. Steve Nash left the game with blood coming out of his bandages with 54 seconds left with the score at 106-104. With the score still close towards the end of the game, one has to wonder how the score would have been if Nash never got that injury and never had to come out at such a crucial part of the game with game one the line. It could have made all the difference but it also could have made none.
Perhaps the Spurs really played the better game but many could attribute the win due to that incident. As Horry said it’s really best to have the best team out at the end of the game and with Nash out they didn’t have that. One thing I have to say is that the Spurs are the kind of team that can win. Them winning game 1 was never a surprise and at times they showed flashes of dominance over the Suns. So I’d say the Spurs could still have won that game just the same if Nash was ok at the end of game. That’s the Spurs. They know how to win! But I look forward to the rest of the series. These two teams are just so fun to watch.
