Spurs Just Too Much For Cavs At Home
The real test of the series is about to begin as game 3 will give the Cavs the home advantage and a chance to show that they can have an impact in this series. But for now all we can say is that the San Antonio Spurs were just too much for the Cavs at home as they won the first two games. But really, no matter where the Spurs play they are tough to beat because of three reasons: Tim Duncan, Tony Parker and Manu Ginobili. That’s actually explanation enough but I’ll say more.
Game 2 which the Spurs won 103-92 was a clear example of just how dominating the Spurs are because of those three. Let’s put things into perspective. The Cavaliers managed to cut into a 29 point lead as the Spurs started relaxing a bit. The Cavaliers got as close to 95-87 with 4:53 left in the game but the Spurs came alive again to put the game away. If you look at the stats, Lebron actually played a good game and so did the other Cavaliers. Lebron scored 25 points, 7 rebounds and 6 assists while Daniel Gibson added 15 points. Drew Gooden had 13 points and Sasha Pavlovic had 10. But those numbers don’t even compare to the the ones the Spurs’ trio had. Tim Duncan had 23 points 9 rebounds and 8 assists while Tony Parker added 30 points and Manu Ginobili had 25.
The math is just too overwhelming. You have three guys who played superbly on the Spurs’ side while only Lebron matched that kind of output on the Cavs side. The Spurs are just doing business as usual and with those three, it’s just hard for them to lose. The Cavaliers showed nice effort here but it just isn’t good enough. They need to show stuff of legend to win a game against an experienced team with an experienced coach.
