Shawn Marion To Celtics?
News is that newly appointed Suns GM Steve Kerr will be faced with a very important decision this coming off season. It’s a decision that I think couldl change the heart and soul of the Suns franchise as we know them. I’m talking about what the Suns will have to do with Shawn Marion, who will make $32.5 million for the next two years. That’s apparently a problem for the Suns business side of things. For this reason, he may have to go and the Boston Celtics are interested.
One scenario has the Boston Celtics acquiring Marion in a trade that would give the Suns the fifth overall pick in the June 28 NBA draft, center-forward Theo Ratliff (whose contract expires after next season and would provide $11.7 million in salary cap space) and guard Delonte West.
For the Celtics, it will make up big time for not scoring higher in the draft lottery this year
butl makes no sense for the Suns from a basketball standpoint. I hope the Suns find a way around this because my thinking is even if the Suns get a fair exchange of talent for Marion, the idea of Marion leaving the team is just absurd to me since he’s one of the faces of that franchise now. To me he’s one of the most underrated players in the game now since he seems to do more for that team than many give him credit for. At only 6′7 he plays like someone a lot bigger. He’s the perfect guy to be in the Suns’ up tempo system. He’s just too good to let go. Besides,
I’m sure if the Suns trade Marion their ticket sales will drop so it’s not a very great business decision afterall. Steve, don’t do anything stupid!

Shawn has talked about the opportunity to be the man. Boston could give him that chance.
