Orlando Magic Clinch Final Playoff Spot For East
The last time the Orlando Magic saw the post season, Tracy McGrady was still with them and Grant Hill was still recovering from his injury that kept him out for years. That was four years ago. Finally the duo of Dwight Howard and Jameer Nelson has led the team to the post season as the Magic clinch the 8th and last playoff spot for the Eastern Conference.
For me this is a nice and timely accomplishment for the Magic since it’s nice that grant Hill will get another taste of the post season at least one last time before he retires (word is he might retire after the season). Another reason why it’s nice that they made it is because they were pretty good starting off the season but the team struggled along the way and fell out of the top 8 eventually. Considering that they were actually the number one team in the East at one point early this season, it would have been a shame if they missed it completely.
The Magic didn’t have any major offseason acquisitions coming into the season but one man’s dominance made this possible. Dwight Howard has proven to be a legitimate star in this league this season by making the All Star team and more so by being the biggest reason for the Magic’s success in this playoff run. Being a young and already dominant but still developing star, Howard will surely be much better than he already is down the road. That means a lot of hope for the Magic to not only make the playoffs for years to come but also make an impact!
