Oden’s Father Says His Son Will Enter Draft
With Kevin Durant having already announced that he will enter the draft, what the public wants to know is if Greg Oden will too. This year’s draft is being considered one of the deepest draft classes in a long time and definitely Oden is one important reason why it is so. Well according to Oden’s father Greg Oden Sr., his son will indeed enter the draft.
Oden has yet to make an official announcement about his desire to enter the draft but for me this piece of news is good enough for me. It comes from a source close to Oden and how much closer can you get than his own family? They say you’d be nuts to pass up the chance to go number 1 overall in the draft and I guess that applies to Oden too so the odds that Oden wouldn’t go aren’t that high. I know I’ve written in the past that we shouldn’t be swayed by the Oden hype - that we shouldn’t assume that Oden was going for sure. In a way I still stick by that. Until he makes an official announcement we shouldn’t really think about it too much. But with more and more indications that he will indeed go and especially with this news from his own father it’s much safer to really say he is indeed going.
Personally I think Oden’s development will benefit more in the NBA level at this point. His team mate Mike Conley also plans to declare so there’s not much left in the team to work with. In the NBA he will face the best of the best and we all know that facing the best makes one better *Ask Magic Johnson and he’ll tell you that facing Larry Bird made him a better player than he would have been without him). Going to the NBA will pay very well too!
