Nowitzki’s 50 Lifts Mavs Past Suns

We all knew Dirk would come back with a good game after a miserable 11 points in the last game, but who would have thought it would be this good? The Mavericks win game 5 over the Suns 117-101 with the Dirk’s hot shooting of 50 points, a franchise scoring record for the post season. The Mavs now lead the series 3-2, putting the Suns in danger of elimination if they lose the next game.

“Hopefully we got the bad game out of the way and now we can just focus on the goal,” said Jerry Stackhouse, who scored 16 points. “We’re one game away from doing something this team and franchise has never done before. Hopefully we’ll bring all that energy we need.” Source

The Josh Howard stat is still alive! Howard scored 23 points in this Mavs victory so the stat should now say that the Mavs are 24-0 when he scores 20 or more.

The Suns didn’t do too badly. In fact all the Suns starters except Raja Bell scored in double figures. Leandro Barbosa added double digit production too with 14 points. Tim Thomas had a playoff career high 26 points. Dirk’s 50 points was just too much and too incradible for the Suns to handle.

“He played unbelievable,” said Nash, one of Nowitzki’s closest friends from their years together in Dallas. “I don’t know what his line was. I didn’t feel like he missed very often.” Source

The Mavs seem to have proven that they are the better team and if they play as hard as they did in this game, they will win the next game to close out the series and send the Suns packing.

GO MAVS! SO ALL WE NEED NOW IS FOR THE HEAT TO MAKE IT. What a wonderful finals this will be! Something totally new.

Unfortunately, if the Heat make it, all the Kobe lovers will suffer from apolpexy, since they cant believe that Shaq can win without Kobe. Its really been the other way around: Once Shaq left, look what happened to Kobe and his poor team. Go Clippers!
