NBA Quiet Notes - LeBron, Rockets, Pistons, Kobe and the Lakers
NBA Obsessed takes you into the hit and run game of NBA Basketball.
NBA Quiet Notes is a quick look around the National Basketball League to see what is happening.
LeBron James - Bill Laimbeer on National Radio today said, when it is all said and done, LeBron will be the best player ever. He has a point. LeBron is only 23 years old and already has scored 10,000 points and taken a weak team to the NBA Finals. Bill added that LeBron will need to win some championships. That may be difficult if he stays in Cleveland.
Houston Rockets - Last time we checked Yao Ming was injured and Houston “We have a problem”. Only nobody told the Rockets. They just beat the Grizzlies for their 14th straight victory. McGrady had 6 rebounds, 6 assists, and 25 points.
Meanwhile, Yao wants desperately to play in the Olympics for China, but will his foot allow him?
Yao has gone down again. This time, it’s a stress fracture in his left foot. The threshold of chronic injury to his legs and feet creeps closer. There’s a disturbing, depressing pattern. He has broken his foot twice in the past two years. He’s broken a leg. He’s had an infected toe. Four surgeries in two years and the truth is increasingly inescapable: With the way he moves, with 7 feet, 6 inches of unprecedented polish and power, Yao has asked his lower body to support a style, a frame, that no basketball player his size has ever maintained. source
Detroit Pistons - The Pistons have taken on that bored look since the All Star game and make you wonder if they will just drift into the playoffs. They are in the process of signing former piston Theo Ratliff for insurance purposes.
The Pistons expect to sign center Theo Ratliff for a prorated portion of the $1.3 million veteran’s minimum after he clears waivers Saturday. He can then sign early next week. source
They just got done signing Juan Dixon for a little more scoring off the bench. The Pistons are just tweaking the lineup and waiting for the playoffs.
Kobe and the Lakers - While the Lakers are trying to get victory number 11 in a row at Portland, and currently leading after 3 quarters, has anyone noticed that when Andrew Bynum returns to the lineup, the front line of the Lakers will be huge.
With Andrew Bynum at 7 foot, and Pau Gasol at 7 foot, and Lamar Odom at 6 foot 10, that is a tall lineup. Throw in Kobe Bryant at 6 foot 6 and all the Lakers have to do is find the tallest point guard in the league to be a regular freak show.
NBA Basketball Fan Question Who is the tallest point guard in the league?
