My Sir Charles Hall of Fame Tribute
So it’s really close till the moment Sir Charles Barkley will be inducted to the Hall of Fame and I want to give him a tribute. It’s really sad that I started gaining interest in the NBA just a few years ago because I would really have enjoyed seeing him play live. I had to resort to seeing him from NBA documentaries and replays of old games but that’s all I needed to see what kind of player he was. Congratulations to you Charles for finally getting the honor you rightly deserve. You were a star on and off the court and you still rock until now!
Here’s something for everyone to remember him by.

Angelo,
Being an old timer, got to see the Round Mound of Rebound play his whole career. How does a guy lead the league in rebounding and only be around 6′ 4 and 1/2 inches tall?
When he was on the original Dream Team, it was often Barley and HaKeem Alojowan (sp) that lead the team, because they did not alter their games. By that, you know how when you play your little brother or something and you make sure you only shoot layups, so they all go in? Well, many times the Dream Teamers were trying to be so careful with what they did, because the competition could not defend them, but Charles and Hakeem the Dream did not have a careful game.
It was often their shots that got the team going as their opponents learned to stack the middle of the lane. So Dream would shoot a turn around and Charles would jack up a couple of tough outside jumpers.

I was fortunate to have been able to watch many good players, since the late sixties to this day, and Sir Charles was one who really caught my attention. He was aggressive, but a team player to the utmost. When the Dream Team had trouble adjusting to the international rules way back then, Sir Charles would go in and run over the opposition…grabbing rebounds and making valuable shots and passes. He may not have been high and mighty, but he had HEART!
Listen to his comments about how today, the players think mainly about themselves and their pocketbooks. That is why I am so happy to see selfless and great players like Dwaye Wade and Lebron James do their thing. Not like that self-centered Kobe!

I grew up idolizing Charles Barkley and used the number 34 in every basketball league I played as a kid until college because I am the smallest power forward in any competition I joined in. I thought of playing guard but when I saw Charles being that small and dominate it just motivated me to stay in the forward position and I’d still turn to average 16 point and 15 rebounds (of course thats amateur basketball). So I like him very much.
archangel joseph — Aren’t you tired of picking up on Kobe? It seems a lifetime already. One news for you, he doesn’t care what people think, he’s up there with all the millions and you’re down there. The more you attack him, the more he’s happy.

Just let him go, Milo. Go to the Kobe haters blog i featured here way back you’ll see words harsher than his. Every celebrity has his fans and his haters. In the case of Kobe, it seems to be extremes. Either you really love him or you really hate him. It’s just the way Kobe projects himself that people respond to him that way.

uh, Milo…..at least I am consistent. He has millions, yes. But he lost a lot of admirers because of his self-centeredness. BTW, he lost a lot of endorsements because of that rape case, so even his millions were drastically cut down. What makes you think i am down there? You will be surprised.
