Melo, Josh Howard Added To The All Star Roster
The NBA world was confused when Carmelo Anthony failed to make the Western Conference All Star roster despite his excellent performance as the league’s leading scorer this season. Many including myself blamed this snub on his 15 game suspension for his role at the Madison Square Garden brawl earlier this season. While not as obvious a choice as Melo, Josh Howard of the Dallas Mavericks was also snubbed despite being an important piece to the Mavericks’ success.
Playing in the very competitive Western Conference, it’s easy to get snubbed for the All Star game since the teams are so loaded with legitimate stars. Stars Ray Allen and Elton Brand are among the list of candidates who didn’t make the roster either. But the good news is that NBA commisioner David Stern named Carmelo Anthony and Josh Howard as injury replacements to the injured All Star roster members Yao Ming and Carlos Boozer.
Anthony has this to say about his selection,
“It’s still the All-Star Game, it still feels great, and I’m going to make the best out of it.”
While Howard commented as follows:
“It is an honor to be selected to my first All-Star Team,” Howard said in a statement. “This has been a dream of mine since I was a kid. It is especially gratifying to play alongside my teammate Dirk Nowitzki.”
Last season, Gilbert Arenas was selected as an injury replacement to Jermaine O’Neal and like Howard and Anthony this year, he wasn’t at all disappointed and in fact he was honored that he made the team even as an injury replacement. It looks like both Howard and Anthony feel the same way and I’m sure both will make the most out of it.

Just recently, Carmelo Anthony and Josh Howard were named injury replacements to Yao Ming and Carlos Boozer by Commissioner David Stern. Now Stern has to name another replacement for Steve Nash who will sit out the event due an inflamed left shoulder “Steve’s just not ready to play right now. He needs the recovery and rehab time,” coach Mike D’Antoni said in a statement released by the team. “He hasn’t recovered as quickly as we anticipated. Hopefully, he’ll be able to resume play after the All-Star break.”. [...]
