Clippers Advance In Playoffs, Beat Nuggets in 5

Wow! This is indeed a different Clippers team! Having an amazing season and making the playoffs was one amazing feat I never would have thought the Clippers of old would have been able to do. Advancing to the second round after 30 years of not doing so is another thing, and against the 3rd seeded Denver Nuggets too! The last time they advanced was a time when the franchise was still called the Buffalo Braves so in a way this is a franchise first, advancing as the Clippers!
The Clippers sent the Nuggets home by winning game 5 with a score of 101-83. Corey Maggette and Cuttino Mobley were the high men with 23 points. Elton Brand added 21 while Sam Cassell and Chris Kaman added 10 points each. Back up point guard Shaun Livingston exploded for 14 assists.
I think the Nuggets’ poor play in this series was caused by a shaken up chemistry from the Kenyon Martin incident that led to his suspension. His incident only caused an uneeded distraction to the team. Without Kenyon’s presence, the Nuggets had a huge hole at the front court and a lack of scoring contributon from one of the teams better scorers. This only led to losses and a poor morale for the Nuggets. When you factor in the explosion of offensive talent from the other team, you get an even bigger loss in morale. It must hurt big time to be beaten blown out by the league’s former laughing stock franchise.
Now the Clippers are waiting for the winner of the Suns-Lakers matchup. If the Lakers win, which looks like the case as they are one win away from sending the Suns home, then we’ll see an L.A. battle for supremacy in the second round! That looks exciting!

Haha! yeah but things are different now… right now I can’t think of the Portland Trailblazers as a team with any skill. Their GM screwed up that franchise.
