Bulls to Trade JR Smith

When the Bulls traded Tyson Chandler to the Hornets for PJ Brown and JR Smith I had doubts about whether Smith would really fit in the Bulls system. He has good talent but he’s got some baggage that won’t pass Scott Skiles’ coaching style. Byron Scott couldn’t stand him in the Hornets because of his bad attitude and lack of work ethic. That’s not the type of player Skiles wants in his team.
Sure enough, the Bulls didn’t seem to want him either. They’re trading Smith to the Denver Nuggets for Howard Eisley and 2 second round picks. The whole point of this trade is to make room in the roster for free agent Adrian Griffin to come in, to get rid of Smith and to get something in return. The Bulls intend to waive Eisley too.
If Smith learns to deal with his baggage, he’ll be a pretty good player in this league. I’m sure some other teams will want to sign him off the waivers later on. He is afterall a 2004 first round selection and he’s got some game. If not for the baggage, I doubt the Hornets would have wanted to give him up.
