Billups To Memphis?
Chauncey Billups is focusing on trying to win another championship for the Pistons but that definitely doesn’t stop him from thinking about him free agency during the off-season. While I’m sure Joe Dumars will try his best to keep his star point guard in Motown, Billups wants to keep his options open and the Memphis Grizzlies could be a possible destination for him next season (another could be the Bucks?).
“They have a lot of good young talent,” Billups said. “They’re a couple of players away from being really, really good. The season started out really rough for them and then Gasol came back, and they’ve been playing well. They’re a lot better than their record.”
With Pau Gasol going nowhere it seems and with all the other talent there like Rudy Gay, Mike Miller, Stromile Swift, Hakim Warrick and others, Billups could be a nice fit for them and it could be a worthy challenge for him to get that team into playoff contention once again. Another nice lure for Billups is the chance to play with either Kevin Durant or Greg Oden - players whom the Grizzlies could draft if they declare.
Wherever Billups might end up next season, it’s sure that he will be one of the top free agents in the offseason so expect many teams to call him up. Hopefully wherever he may go, he will bring that same intensity of play that he showed with the Pistons. Personally I want him to stay ( but that’ because the Pistons are one of my favorite teams and I’d hate for them to lose him).
