Baby Bulls Avoid Elimination With Game 4 Win
“I don’t care who it is, we are better than being swept in four games,” Ben Wallace said. “We just have to come out and fight.”
To sweep the Miami Heat in the first round of the playoffs and face a sweep themselves to the Pistons. That could have been the tragic story of the Chicago Bulls. But alas, the reason why I said could is because it didn’t happen. It’s really amazing what people can do when faced with a win or go home situation. The survival instincts come loose and WHAM! The threat is overcome.
The Bulls have struggled against the Pistons all series long and even with this game 4 win the Bulls are still in deep trouble. With the series now at 3-1, a single loss will end the Bulls’ amazing season. What pressure! When I first found out about the Pistons - Bulls match up, I initially thought the Bulls could take the Pistons quite well and even possibly knock them out. The Bulls are a young strong team with the riht veterans to mentor the young guys. That’s why I felt sad for the Bulls when they faced elimination. I have cousins in Chicago who cheer for the Bulls so they have a special place in my NBA heart. I thought to myself as the Bulls faced defeat after defeat, “Just win one game!”. The way I see it, when the Pistons faced the Milwaukee Bucks in the playoffs before, they always managed to win one game. There was a kind of pride that at least they didn’t get swept. It would have been a damn shame if the Bulls (one of the strongest forces in the East this year) could not even win a game against the Ben-less Pistons, especially since Ben is with them now.
At this point, I guess I can rest now that the Bulls got that one win. They can be eliminated in peace. There really isn’t a bad thing about losing to the Pistons. They’ve proven that they’re a heck of a force in the East and they have the best chance at the title among all Eastern Conference teams. There’s no shame losing to them especially now that they have that one win. But knowing the Bulls, they just might be crazy enough to force another win in the next game. If they play like the way they did in this game they could do so and that’s exciting basketball right there if it happens!
